Sanctuary Innerwear

Introducing Sanctuary Innerwear, a unique line of women’s garments by Anna Lukai. They are handmade in Pontypool, ON from certified sustainable fabric, individually dyed with plants, and infused with healthful herbs for wearable wellness.

The result of deep alignment with earth, Sanctuary Innerwear is a line of women’s intimates like no other. Each Cami and Demi-brief, Corselet and Shortlet, Bodice and Brief, Nightie and Gown is locally hand crafted from certified sustainable Tencel (eucalyptus) fabric.

In keeping with the closed-loop system of fibre manufacture, the maker grows and forages plants to dye them in a beautiful array of nature’s colours. Furthermore, the fabric is infused with water essences of the herbs, each one with a specific focus and intention, as determined by the plant potential. Re-infusing Spray and Laundering Soap is provided with each set to enable the garment to generate health and wellness for the wearer for its lifespan.

The Farm
The fields, plants and trees around the farm along with the garden that includes dye plants and herbs.

Buttery yellow fabric that has been dyed with goldenrod. A tray of indigo seedlings creates a beautiful blue fabric.

Botanical Dyes
Madder roots fresh from the garden ready to dye, the dye bath and resulting fabric.

Sustainable Fabric
Lenzing Tencel (certified sustainable eucalyptus, grown on FSC certified farms in South Africa, knitted in South Korea and certified in Austria).

The fabric is cut into the designed patterned pieces. Herbs are then introduced into the fabric through their hydrosol, in order to give each piece of clothing an intention as a result of their benefits.

Here are the beautiful results:
