Inclusivity Statement
The Upper Canada Fibreshed acknowledges and values all dimensions of diversity and is committed to providing a positive environment during all of our activities. We strive to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
We welcome and encourage the participation of all producers and consumers that value sustainable agriculture and regional textile manufacturing regardless of age, gender, gender identity, race, cultural background, religion, ability, sexual orientation, geographic location, and all other characteristics that make our members unique.
The Upper Canada Fibreshed is committed to proactively promoting a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusivity and will actively denounce prejudice, stereotyping, and discrimination whenever it is encountered within the Fibreshed network. The Upper Canada Fibreshed expects its members to act in accordance with the principles set out in this statement.
We further recognize that the land that encompasses the Upper Canada Fibreshed is the traditional territories of a multitude of Indigenous nations such as Algonquin, Mississauga, Ojibway, Cree, Odawa, Pottowatomi, Delaware, and the Haudenosaunee (Mohawk, Onondaga, Onoyota’a:ka, Cayuga, Tuscarora, and Senecaand), among others. We would like to pay our respects to the people of these nations, past and present.
