Instructor Biography:

Cat Haggert is a spinner/weaver based in Waterdown, Ontario. Through volunteering as a historical interpreter at Westfield Heritage Village, Cat became interested in spinning and weaving with flax to create linen thread and cloth. In 2010 she grew her first bed of flax, processing it with cobbled-together tools from her kitchen and her husband’s workroom. Since then, her experience, knowledge, and toolbank have grown and she now demonstrates the process on tools commissioned for the purpose. She loves everything about flax, from the beautiful flowers to the hand of the finished cloth and is excited to share the steps taken to produce versatile, durable, and beautiful linen. You can follow her on Instagram @cat_theflaxlady.

After registration, materials will be arranged directly with the instructor if desired. There are two options:

(a) 120 g of Natalie variety fibre flax seed (enough for a 1.5m x 5m plot) for $15, or

(b) the seed and a couple of household items that can be used to process small amounts of flax for $20.
